RPGMT Translation (game ver unknown, translator ver0.8.0, patch 2019/01/11): [first patch, untested, may have issues]

I'm not distributing the game, only a patch. You'll need a copy of the game if you want to play.

This game was requested by @arkanoid23. I'll be working on it for the next few weeks. The patch is in its early stages for now. So there could be a few surprises. The MTL engine is indeed a bit zealous when I don't put enough work into the config files. (See if you notice something strange in the picture XD)

The dialogues are 100% translated, I'm not sure about the rest yet.

Edit:

Just figured out a solution to translate the battle screen. Because I didn't work on the patch -- I spent all my time on the auto-TLor -- I wouldn't recommend to play / attempt to translate just yet, except is you're more interested in giving feedback than fapping.
I won't be using RPGMTrans 4.5 for this game so I'm giving the data folder, just copy/paste it.
The files are also updated on GitHub.
1547936114820.png

Manual translations:
None, except standard RPGMakerVXAce lines

Machine translation:
No auto edit, no dictionary
Not all lines translated (scripts, etc.)
This is barely more than a raw MTL

Pictures:
No picture translation

What I've broken (and is better in the old patch):
N/A

Translation was made using a custom RPG Maker auto-translator. Excluding the manual translated parts, sentences are translated using a combination of a custom dictionary, custom sentence models and Google machine translation service. Pictures are also automatically translated (mainly OCR+machine translation+text over picture).
The translation is a byproduct of the development of the auto-translator and is not edited. You shouldn't bother with it if you actually understand Japanese but you should find it better than using a text hooker.

Please translate directly on the latest patch (game_patch/patch/___.txt)
Feel free to translate any text commented with #MTLed (Machine TransLated)
Change #MTLed with #your_name, you can add a comment #your_name : your comment
You can also change already translated text by replacing #his_name with #your_name
The previous translation is not lost and if you are a better translator I'll make sure that your translation appears instead of the previous one.
Be careful with names and sentence length.

I can help to proofread your translations for:
-typos
-name inconsistency
-text spilling outside the window

Post your files on this thread.

Thanks for that. I will wait one week like you said. When you are done could you also share an editable version? I was thinking I would make an attempt at manual proofreading and see how far I get before I give up.

I'll set up a github. You can still edit the patch yourself by adding your #signature.
I'll recommend you give me your files before you lose your motivation so I can give you an auto-proofread.
You might also want to wait a week before editing the MTL, you'll find it easier.

Edit: added github.

Love the games from this author and glad that this is getting any kind of exposure. While I do wish for a proper translation, this is a good first step to gauge interests and if liked enough, perhaps someone down the line might take up the mantle.

Shameless self-promotion to invite others to our BF Discord Group. See profile for further details!

To be honest that is exactly why I asked for it. It is a shame those games just kinda flew under the radar and the circle just died.

Ok, I've been looking at the files and RPG Maker Trans is unable to translate all of it.
So, bad news is that translating 100% of the game is going to take a while. I'll be exploring various solutions.
Good news is that if I'm forced to make my own alternative to RPG Maker Trans then I'll finally get rid of all RPG Maker Trans issues altogether.

The game heavily relies on the Scrolling Text command, which is not supported by RPGMT for some obscure reason.
I could still make a fix for the other games that sometimes used commands not translated by RPGMT. But these were scare while those are all over the place.

I find it hilarious that the OP of the original game thread felt the need to issue a warning of a single pic of the elf partner being raped. I understand that this is suppose to be a wish-fulfillment game but you guys can't be THAT fragile, especially considering how many girls the guy fucks.

Actually its the opposite, if something is machine translated no one will bother doing a proper tl for it.
Especially the companies, most publisher will not even look at games that have a machine translation.
So all this is doing is making sure the game never gets a proper translation while Lv1VillagerA is deluding himself into thinking that he is helping.

Sorry for being harsh but someone has to speak out the truth.

As for everyone else who is fine with mtls, just use a text hooker. No need to ruin the game for everyone else.

There is and was 0% chance any publishing company would pick this game. Just sayin....
As for the rest of the post you should really just go with pure animosity to the OP. No need to veil it this way.

That is wrong, there are more companies then ever doing localizations now. Even DLsite itself started doing more localizations.
Machine translations are a relic of a past era that is no longer necessary. Just a leftover from the "better then nothing" mentality when we only had fan translators doing those games.

Its time to move on from this bad practice and start having some standards.

Do you think that a person who has no idea about electrics should work as a electrician, or a person that has no piloting training should fly a air plane?
Then why should a person who doesn't understand the language in question translate from said language?
Its just common sense If you are not competent to do something you dont do it. Or if you really want to do it then learn the language first.

Unless you're one of the localization staff from a publishing company, What do you know? No matter how slim the chance is there's still a CHANCE.

I could never texthook RJ169029 before LV1VillagerA's machine translation came out. Lines would repeat endlessly on agth and it wasnt until their machine translation, as crude as it may have been, that I could at least progress through the game. Anyone would prefer a full translation over a machine translation, but I still appreciate the extra work that goes into these machine translations.

So while we have this deeply philosophical debate here... I think Dark Souls should have an easy mode for people who don't like difficult games.

Unless you're one of the localization staff from a publishing company, What do you know? No matter how slim the chance is there's still a CHANCE.
Game in quesiton has 6000 downloads on japanese dlsite. Including other sites maybe they got around 10k. This is niche even in Japan. There are much better options for a publishing house. Also since the circle responsible for the game is dead... How would you even approach this?

On a sidenote, I love how much attention this thread gets. And I still think it improved the chances of a real translation however nonexistant they were.

Ok, I have to take issue with this. First and foremost, I could argue against this entire post by saying that porn of any kind shouldn't have a plot to it because the main goal is to fap to the pics, vids, and animations found within the porn. So I'd say this is completely missing the point, because these are games and the language barrier can and will prevent people from navigating game media. Games generally require some basic reading skills or damn good guessing skills because you need to be able to understand plot cues, and possibly the menus and abilities required to beat the game (depending on difficulty).

Sure, there are more translators these days, but it seems like games are still coming out at a much faster rate than they're being translated. And developers develop their games in their native language and typically can't afford a translation. Therefore, it falls to either fans who just want to play through the game's content or professionals who are smaller in number. And if someone better at programming, then let them have fun create a program which translates the text automatically. Basic understanding of these games is generally all you need to play through them and enjoy them.

Now please stop scrutinizing people like Lv1 Villager unless you plan to manually translate the game yourself, or hire a professional to do it instead.

"porn of any kind shouldn't have a plot "

Its not porn, its a game that happens to also have sex scenes. By your logic The Witcher is just porn too.
Second if you you only care about pron then go watch a hentai or just get a 100% save.
No need to ruin the game for people who actually care.

"And developers develop their games in their native language and typically can't afford a translation "
That is not how it works, the publishers pay the developers for the rights to translate their game. The publisher also covers all the translations costs.

"And if someone better at programming, then let them have fun create a program which translates the text automatically "
I cant stop them from doing it, but what they are doing is actively harming the industry. So I will speak out against it whenever possible in hopes of making them understand how harmful machine translations actually are.

I dont mean to insult him or anything like that. I believe that he is doing this because he thinks that its actually helping without realizing that it's only causing harm. And I'm attacking him personally, I mean machine translations generally.

Wow, people here have serious misconceptions.

First, machine translation doesn't kill games. Games die with their community. Making a machine translation brings attention to a game so at least it doesn't kill the game.

Second, machine translation doesn't deter translators. There are a lot of people out here. Some won't even bother to check for existing translation to start. Some will translate it exactly because they think the game deserves better. Some will just ask to translate and be done with it.

Third, machine translation is way more common than you think. RPGMakerVX Ace editor translation is a prime example of that. While comparing the assets in the Japanese and English versions, I was surprised how many lines had a very lazy translation. I could only link the use of some key words to a heavy use of machine translation. Some of your anime or manga fan translations are also like that.

Forth, machine translation is a tool. Like any tool, you're free not to use it. But if you use it, you have to use it properly. You have to understand how it works, what it can do and what it cannot do. Machine translation can translate a game and I could spend a lot of time speaking about algorithms to improve Google Translation to allow players to understand quests. Its limitation for now is grammar. I couldn't think of a way to significantly improve it. However, please understand that there already exist self driving cars and that technology is improving fast--fast enough to have significantly better translation as time passes.

Fifth, Japanese is only one of the skills you need to translate. Actually you need:
(1) to understand how the game works (2) to understand Japanese (3) to know how to write for English natives (4) to know your limits
You can have your strengths and your weaknesses. I know mine. I spent a lot of time on (1). I have a lot of troubles to make a machine do (3). Sadly a lot of added value resides in the English editing. People usually don't see the point once there are grammar mistakes. Ironically lazy translations with very good editing are generally seen as good translation (even by the most grumpy ones).

Lastly, I'm a dev. I'm not bothering with editing. I'm encouraging people to do it, I know it would be better it I did, but that's not what I do--I simply don't have time for it. Also, this thread is here to help the translation, not to kill it.
